THE BIOLOGY SUMMER COURSES
Biology 100 - Coastal Ecology, 2 weeks for 3 credits
For students (or adults) with little previous experience in biology and/or field work. Lectures, laboratory exercises, and field trips will treat the natural history and community dynamics of salt marshes, sea grass beds, beaches, dunes, and upland plant and animal communities.
Option for teachers: Teachers taking Biol. 100 may apply these studies toward a 3-credit post-baccalaureate professional development course. This course is useful to science teachers wishing to expand their knowledge of environmental issues in marine biology for inclusion in their school curriculum.
Prerequisites: A familiarity of biology and permission of the instructor (Dr. Greg Beck).
